KCCLP REPORT:

The Knucklas Village Fete and Allotments Open Day were both acclaimed as successes by the several hundred people wise enough to come. 

The Fete at the Community Centre, despite a bit of drizzle, was crammed full of activity – performances to watch or learn from (the Black Crow Vikings, the Mid-Wales Axe Men); live music (Paul and Penny, Kandinsky’s Daughter); mountains to eat and drink; races, games, amusements and prizes for children of all ages; vintage cars, gleaming, back-firing and awaking nostalgia in older men; produce, arts and craft stalls; a dog show; displays by local groups.

Allotments Open Day was more relaxed.  Strolling among the plots, visitors admired and deplored the varied quality of gardening; listened to music; or hung about eating cake, drinking tea and gazing at sunny hills above the Teme.

Both events, and particularly the Fete, needed organisation and work. 

Uncounted thanks from KCCLP first to the small group of close supporters who, over months of meetings, decided the details of what was to be done and arranged for it all to happen and, second, to the many who, before, after and on the day, heeded the calls for help, rolled up their sleeves, fetched stuff in vans, erected gazeboes, served at stalls, supplied food, rehearsed their pieces, looked after equipment, prepared food and, when they saw that something needed doing, just did it.

Every little bit in this huge collective effort contributed to the success of the weekend’s events.  It is gratifying and exciting to know that so many people are willing to give up their time to achieve the aspiration to secure the land for the benefit of local people for ever.  Thank you again for all you did and for coming along during the weekend and for your continued support.

Like other elements of the weekend its financial outcome was also a success.  The expenses have not yet all been claimed, but it looks as if, after paying them, we will have made a profit of about £2,600 to go towards buying the land.
